County Championship 1999
The 1999 County Championship was the 101st season of the national first-class cricket competition in England and Wales . It was last held in just one division. The County Championship winner was the Surrey County Cricket Club , making it its sixteenth county championship. For the following season 2000 , the first nine teams qualified for Division 1 and the last nine for Division 2.
format
In a division, each team played one game against each other. A team received 12 points for a win and 6 points for a draw (both teams achieve the same number of runs ). If no result is achieved and the game ends in a draw, both teams get 4 points. Additionally there is the possibility to collect bonus points in the first 130 overs of the first inning . Up to 5 points are awarded for runs and up to 3 points for wickets. It is also possible for teams to be deducted points if, for example, they play too slowly or the pitch is not properly prepared. At the end of the season, the winner is the Division County Champion.
