Craig Schira (born April 21, 1988 in Spiritwood , Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Rögle BK in the Svenska Hockeyligan since April 2017 .

Career

Schira was initially active from 2003 to 2007 for the Regina Pats from the Canadian top junior league Western Hockey League . In September 2007 the Regina Pats transferred him to the Vancouver Giants together with Mike Reich in exchange for Tim Kraus and Juraj Valach . With the Giants, Schira developed positively, especially on the offensive, and filled his role as a two-way defender. In his last WHL season, the 2008/09 season , he scored 16 goals and 43 assists in 71 regular season games . In the playoffs, the Canadian and the team lost to the eventual champions Kelowna Rockets in six games in the conference finals .

The undrafted actor signed a three-year entry contract with the Ottawa Senators from the National Hockey League in March 2009 . The following AHL season 2009/10 he made his debut for the AHL - farm team , the Binghamton Senators . In the 2010/11 season he won the Calder Cup with Binghamton . Until the end of the contract at the end of the 2011/12 season , the right-wing shooter was continuously active as a regular and was then hired by Frisk Asker from the Norwegian GET league in June 2012 . Between 2013 and 2015, Schira was on the ice for Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho in the Finnish Liiga , before moving to the Swedish club Luleå HF in the Svenska Hockeyligan in March 2015 .

International

For the Canada Western selection , Schira was on the ice at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2005 and won the gold medal with the team as the tournament winner. He also represented his home country a year later at the U18 Junior World Championship in 2006 , in which the Canadian selection missed a medal.
