Cristoforo Giacobazzi

Cristoforo Giacobazzi (also Giacobacci, Jacovazzi, Jacovacci, Iacobatius, Jacobazio, Jacobatii ) (* in Rome ; † October 7, 1540 in Perugia ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

Cristoforo Giacobazzi was appointed Bishop of Cassano allo Ionio in March 1523 after his uncle Domenico Giacobazzi had given up this bishopric in his favor. The episcopal ordination donated him on December 26, 1530, the bishop of Cervia , Octavio de Cesi ; Co- consecrators were Giovanni de Rosa , Bishop of Scardona (today Skradin ), and Corrado Cerbaria , Bishop of Anagni . Giacobazzi became Datarius in Rome in 1534 , a year later he was appointed to a reform commission that was supposed to renew the Roman Curia . In the consistory of December 22, 1536, Pope Paul III created. Cristoforo Giacobazzi cardinal and in January 1537 appointed him cardinal priest with the titular church of Sant'Anastasia . In September of the same year he moved to Sant'Eustachio , this titular diaconia was pro hac vice raised to the title church.

He died in Perugia, where he was a legate , and was buried there.
