Domenico Giacobazzi

Domenico Giacobazzi (* 1444 in Rome ; † 1528 there ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .

Life

The son of a patrician family was the third of five children. He studied theology and law and became an auditor of the Rota Romana in 1493 and later also its dean. Canon of the Vatican Basilica since 1503 , he became Bishop of Nocera de 'Pagani in Italy on November 8, 1511 . He attended the Fifth Lateran Council and was vicar general to the Pope.

Created cardinal by Pope Leo X on July 1, 1517 , Domenico Giacobazzi received the titular church of San Lorenzo in Panisperna as a cardinal priest from July 6, 1517 until his death . On July 10, 1517, Giacobazzi was also cardinal priest of the titular church of San Bartolomeo all'Isola , before moving to San Clemente in August 1519 . In 1523 he ceded the bishopric of Cassano all'Jonio to his nephew Cristoforo Giacobazzi , which he had taken over on December 2, 1519 as Apostolic Administrator .

Cardinal Giacobazzi took part in the conclave 1521–1522 and in the conclave of 1523 .
