The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ravenna-Cervia ( Latin Archidioecesis Ravennatensis-Cerviensis , Italian Arcidiocesi di Ravenna-Cervia ) is a in the Church Emilia-Romagna region in Italy located Roman Catholic diocese based in Ravenna . The cathedral of the archdiocese is the cathedral of Ravenna .

history

The diocese was founded in the 1st century and elevated to an archdiocese in the 5th century. The archbishopric was united on September 30, 1986 with the 6th century diocese of Cervia, with which a personal union had existed since January 7, 1909 , from February 22, 1947 aeque principaliter .
