The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of L'Aquila ( lat. : Archidioecesis Aquilanus , ital. : Arcidiocesi dell'Aquila ) is in Italy located Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in L'Aquila .

The diocese of L'Aquila was established on February 20, 1257 and raised to an archdiocese without a metropolitan seat on January 19, 1876. On August 15, 1972, Pope Paul VI raised with the Apostolic Constitution Cum cognitum the Archdiocese of L'Aquila to the Metropolitan Archdiocese and subordinated to him the dioceses of Avezzano and Sulmona-Valva as suffragan dioceses .
