Crocus jablanicensis is a species of crocuses ( Crocus ).
description
The tuber has a diameter of 0.7 to 1 centimeter and is flattened-spherical. The tuberous shell is papyrus-like and consists of thin fibers that are indistinctly arranged like a network. The 2 or 3, rarely 4, lower leaves are white and paper-like. The mostly 2 to 3, rarely 4 leaves are shorter than the bloom, 1 to 2.2, rarely up to 2.5 millimeters wide and bare. The flowers appear in spring. Usually there is only one per plant, more rarely two. They are white and do not smell. The throat is white and bald. There is no prophyll . The support sheet and cover sheet are available and different. The flower tube is white and 3 to 5 inches long. The bloom cladding sheets are the same or different, oblanceolate, blunt or pointed, 2.2 to 4 inches long and 0.7 to 0.9 inches wide. The stamens are 0.7 to 0.9 inches long, white and glabrous. The anthers are 0.6 to 0.8 inches long and yellow. The styles are white and usually longer than the stamens. They are indistinctly divided into three branches. The capsule fruits are ellipsoidal and 1 to 1.7 inches long. The seeds are almost spherical and reddish brown to dark brown.
Occurrence
Crocus jablanicensis occurs from eastern Albania to the Jablanica Mountains in western Macedonia . The species grows in alpine grasslands around meltwater surfaces at altitudes of 1800 to 2100 meters. In terms of plant sociology, the locations on the Strižak ( slate subsurface ) belong to the Seslerion comosae Horvat 1935 association and on the Krstač and Čuma ( limestone subsoil ) to the Onobrychi-Festucion Horvat 1960 association. Crocus jablanicensis is associated with the following species, among others:
- on limestone: Gentiana verna , Dianthus petraeus , Acinos alpinus , Nigritella nigra , Trifolium noricum , Pedicularis hoermaniana , Daphne oleoides
- on slate: Festuca paniculata , Thlaspi praecox , Pedicularis verticillata , Fritillaria macedonica , Crocus scardicus , Lilium albanicum , Geum montanum , Botrichium lunaria
- on limestone and slate: Pimpinella saxifraga , Ranunculus montanus , Geranium subcaulescens , Primula veris
Systematics
The species was discovered in 2007 in the Jablanica Mountains on the Krstač, Strižak and Čuma peaks. In 2012 it was named Crocus jablanicensis by N. Randj. & V. Randj first described. The name Crocus jablanicensis refers to the place where it was found. Within the genus Crocus it is placed in the section Nudiscapus , series Reticulati . It is morphologically very similar to the two species Crocus cvijicii and Crocus veluchensis .
