CrossCut Records is a German record label that specializes in the release of blues albums .
Label history
Founded Crosscut Records in the fall of 1981 by the Bremen Blues fan Detlev Hoegen, the previously under the same name just a mailorder had called -Versand for blues and related styles to life. This shipping has been operating under the umbrella of Bear Family Records since 2004 .
The first release on CrossCut Records was the reissue of the Papa George Lightfoot LP Natchez Trace . For the Freddie King album Rockin 'The Blues with previously unpublished live recordings from the archives of Radio Bremen , CrossCut received an Annual Blues Award in the category Contemporary Blues Album (Foreign) in 1984 from the Blues Foundation in Memphis . The LP Introducing The International Blues Duo by US saxophonist Gary Wiggins and German pianist Christian Rannenberg was the first in-house production in 1984 . 1985 appeared Robert Cray Hightone album False Accusations in a licensed edition for Germany, Austria and Switzerland on CrossCut . In the same year, the CrossCut production Mellow Dee by Charlie Musselwhite was released .
In the In The House series , CrossCut has presented live recordings by Bob Stroger, Little Al Thomas, Roy Gaines and Carl Weathersby from the Lucerne Blues Festival since 1998 . In 2010 CrossCut Records received a Keeping the Blues Alive Award in the Record Label category from the Blues Foundation .
