The crucibulum ( Crucibulum ) is a fungal genus of the family of mushroom relatives . It comprises three species worldwide, one of which, the common crucible teuerling ( Crucibulum laeve ) occurs in Germany. However, some authors only recognize this one type. The fungi live as saprobionts on rotten wood and plant remains.
features
The fruit bodies consist of a small beaker that is initially closed with a white epiphragm . At first they are almost spherical and later crucible, with the epiphragm tearing open when ripe. The outside of the cups are yellow to orange felted. The shell ( peridia ) is thick and consists of a single layer. It is hairy and tomentose on the outside and initially yellowish and finally blackish in color. The hair is heavily branched, smooth and light colored inside.
The inner part ( gleba ) breaks down into numerous lens-shaped elements ( peridioles ). These are disc-shaped and whitish. They are attached to the peridia with a simple mycelial cord ( funiculus ). The cord later serves as a detention organ.
The spores are ellipsoidal and smooth. They sit on the basidia without any sterigma .
Generic delimitation
From the related genus Cyathus ( dearlings ), the dearlings differ in that they are more simply built funiculi (mycelial strands that bind the peridioles to the base of the fruiting body) and peridia , which in Cyathus have three layers. The epiphragma of the crucible expensive owl is orange-yellow and thus forms a good macroscopic distinguishing feature from Cyathus , whose epiphragm is whitish or gray in color.
