Curt Piorkowski
Heinrich Otto Curt Piorkowski (born September 11, 1888 in Leipzig , † 1939 ) was a German psychologist . As a pioneer in applied psychology , he worked particularly in the field of psychological aptitude tests.
Life
The son of the Evangelical Lutheran merchant Felix Piorkowski attended the 3rd Higher Citizens School from 1895 to 1899 and the Thomas School in Leipzig from 1899 to 1909 . He then studied psychology with Wilhelm Wundt at the University of Leipzig . In 1914 he was at his pupil Max Brahn to Dr. phil. PhD. After graduating from high school, he was a one-year volunteer with the 5th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 94 (Grand Duke of Saxony) . Because of an injury he was later with the Landsturm .
During the First World War , he and the psychotechnician Walter Moede (1888-1958) built the army's psychotechnical driver aptitude test centers ( psychotechnology ). Later testing methods buildings on the developed of them secret methods on the suitability of recognition for service drivers train drivers candidates on. Around 1918 he worked with Moede and Georg Wolff (1882–1967) on the selection of highly talented students. In 1920 he and Otto Lipmann (1880–1933) founded the Institute for Occupational and Business Psychology in Berlin. He also headed the private Organizational Institute for Work Science and Psychotechnology (later Organizational Institute Dr. Piorkowski) and temporarily the psychotechnical laboratory at Osram .
He was co-editor of the journal Practical Psychology .
