The Curtis 1000 Europe AG has been a leading European manufacturer of envelopes and mailers , based in Neuwied ( Rheinland-Pfalz , Germany ).

history

The Curtis 1000 Europe AG was founded in 1983 as a joint venture by German entrepreneur Ingo Hafner and the US -Unternehmen Curtis 1000 Inc. in Neuwied established, in each case both partners held half of the company shares. In 1992 the company bought the Neuwied Envelope Factory (formerly Neuwied Envelope Factory Willy Strüder , Neuwied), which in future would form the core of Curtis 1000 Europe AG. In the years that followed, the company grew steadily, primarily through acquisitions, and at times had over 30 subsidiaries in seven European countries.

After the entrepreneurs Ingo Hafner and Dr. Jürgen Platt took over the shares of Curtis 1000 Inc. in Curtis 1000 Europe AG in 1998, it was successfully listed on September 8, 1998 as the only German manufacturer of envelopes to date. The new issue took place under the leadership of DZ Bank at a price of DM 18.00 per ordinary share . First, the " regulated market trading," it was from 2007 onwards in exchange segment ( General Standard ) of the " Deutsche Börse " listed . Curtis 1000 Europe AG was also included in the CDAX share index . It most recently had the security number 938826 or ISIN DE0005431001.

In 2008 a subsidiary of Curtis 1000 Europe AG, the paper mill Hermes GmbH & Cie.KG in Düsseldorf , acquired in 2003 , had to file for bankruptcy and close. The sharp rise in energy and raw material costs had led to major losses. In the same year, Curtis 1000 Europe AG also sold the Fährbrücke Papier GmbH paper factory in Langenweißbach , which had only been acquired in 2006, to a private investor in order to concentrate on its core business of envelopes and mailers again.

On January 4, 2010, insolvency proceedings were opened against the assets of Curtis 1000 Europe AG and its subsidiaries. In the same year, the heart of Curtis 1000 Europe AG, the Neuwieder Couvertfabrik , was partially taken over by the European market leader in envelope production, Mayer-Kuvert-Network GmbH (formerly Ernst Mayer , Heilbronn ) and continued as NC Couvert GmbH until 2013 .
