Cuscuta triumvirati is a plant from the genus silk ( Cuscuta ) in the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). Like all species in this genus, it is a full parasite .

description

Cuscuta triumvirati has thin to moderately thick stems .

The flowers are reddish in color, about 3 to 4 mm in size and five-fold. They stand on flower stalks that are as long or almost as long as the flowers themselves. The chalice is shorter than the corolla tube . The calyx lobes are broadly ovate, blunt and do not overlap. The corolla lobes are broadly ovate, blunt, protruding and about as long as the bell-shaped corolla tube. The anthers protrude beyond the crown. The slightly fringed scales at the base of the corolla tube are egg-shaped and do not reach the stamens . The thin stylus , including the stigma, is longer than the depressed ovary .

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14.

Occurrence

This species occurs in the Sierra Nevada in southern Spain, in Morocco and in Algeria . It mostly parasitizes on Erinacea anthyllis and on other butterflies of the genera Cytisus and Genista . It inhabits altitudes of (700 to) 1300 to 3100 m.
