Cycle Oregon

Cycle Oregon is a week-long cycling event for amateur cyclists that takes place annually through the US state of Oregon . It is also the name of the non-profit sponsoring association founded in 1991 that organizes the event. The tour has more than 1000 participants.

history

The Des Moines Register newspaper reportedly came up with the idea of ​​a bike tour through a US state . Modeled on a bike tour through Iowa, the first Cycle Oregon took place in September 1988 and led over 515 km from Salem to Brookings. It had more than 1000 participants. By 1994 the number of participants rose to over 2000.

The highest number of participants was 2200 participants. This is also currently the maximum number of participants set by Cycle Oregon. The route changes every year.

Cycle Oregon is an organized ride. The participants are fed, camping areas are made available, as well as showers, toilets and broom wagons. 2015 the entry fee was 975 dollars per driver. Cycle Oregon profits will be used for charity at the stage locations.
