Tour de Ländle

The 14 stages of the 1st Tdl 1985

The Tour de Ländle was an annual, until 1998 jointly by SWF and SDR under the title "S4 Tour de Ländle" ( S4 was the joint radio program of SWF and SDR for Baden-Württemberg), from 1999 by SWR at the beginning of the summer holidays in Baden -Württemberg organized recreational cycling event in Baden-Württemberg and the surrounding area in several stages. The name is based on the Tour de France .

organization

2014: four daily routes

Until 2013, a continuous route consisting of several daily stages was driven; Overnight stays and luggage transport were organized. The organizers selected the route together with the "Red Radlers" of the Württemberg Cycling Association. A supporting program with music events, sightseeing, city tours, children's programs and hikes was offered at the individual stages. Every year the route led through different regions of Baden-Württemberg. By 2009, around 600 kilometers had been covered in eight daily stages; from 2010 to 2013, less than 500 km were driven on seven stages with shorter daily distances. From 2014, the Tour de Ländle, despite the continued use of the name, is no longer a continuous cycle tour, instead only four incoherent daily routes can be ridden.

Until 2013, the SWR ensured the organization of overnight stays in hotels, communal accommodation or campsites. Until 2009, it was possible to stay overnight in tents and participate in the day without prior registration and up to 3500 cyclists rode along every day. From 2010 to 2013, there was a registration requirement for the overnight stay in tents and the day participation, whereby the places were raffled. During this time there were 1200 permanent participants and an additional 800 daily participants per day. From 2014 there will no longer be any organized overnight stays.

In addition to road vehicles, baggage carts, breakdown helpers, rescue services on the route and at the stops, drinks and catering services and a large police presence, the entourage is also accompanied by an SWR4 radio bus from which the Tour de Ländle reporters report in the SWR4 program , partly live. The SWR4 also reports on the evening events ("tour parties").
