Cygusy (formerly Cyguß , Cygus or Cyguss , 1938–45 Ziegenfuß ) is a small village in Poland . It belongs to the municipality of Sztum in the powiat Sztumski of the Pomeranian Voivodeship . The place Sztum is about six kilometers northwest.

history

The village was a manor in the Middle Ages and was called Czegenfus or Czeginfus . 1538 the village was as kulmisches farming village in the district Stuhm as Czegenffusz mentioned. In 1772 the village had seven residential buildings in which 102 Catholic residents lived. The village belonged to the Postolin Church and was owned by the Slupow-Szembek family . In 1872 it was listed as the Cyguss manor. In 1910 the population was barely changed to 110. In 1922 it was registered as a manor owned by Boleslaus von Brochwicz-Donimirski . In 1933 the population had increased slightly to 150 and belonged to the government office of Sztum. With the dissolution of the manor districts, Cygusy was united with the municipality of Kollosomp (Kalsen) in 1938 . During the Nazi era, the village was renamed Ziegenfuß . In 1945 the village came to Poland. Today the village has about 180 inhabitants.

The name

Loosely translated, the name means something like " gypsy ".
