Dächheim is a hamlet in the district of Waigolshäuser hamlet Theilheim in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt .
Geographical location
Dächheim is located in the extreme southeast of the Waigolshausen municipal area. In the north lies the Bergrheinfeld district of Garstadt , with which Dächheim is connected via the SW 22 district road. The Main flows past to the east. The so-called Hirschfelder Weiher with the village of the same name Hirschfeld are closest to Dächheim. To the south lies Wipfeld . Theilheim occupies the east; Hergolshausen is in the northwest .
history
The place name is probably derived from a personal name. A nobleman with the name Dacho could have settled there. Dächheim was first mentioned in a document as "Dachem" in 1094. In 1231 Konrad von Speckfeld sold the bailiwick and all of his rights to the Heidenfeld monastery . Subsequently, the Heidenfeld canons ruled Dächheim for almost 600 years.
The canons promoted the place and built a church at the beginning of the 17th century. The residents were allowed to choose a mayor , which was rather unusual for the size of the place. Dächheim was the richest place in the area during the 18th century. The village was independent until 1845 and was then incorporated into Theilheim. The Dächheimer farms (11 farms) came into one hand until 1851. Eugen Pfeifer (1816–1896), a brother of the industrialist Emil Pfeifer , owner of a land and vineyard in Erbach / Rheingau, was also the owner of the Dächheim estate in Theilheim near Schweinfurt from 1845 until his death in 1896 . Subsequently, the Deuster family around Carl Oskar von Deuster owned the Dächheim estate. Dächheim has been completely in the hands of the von Hutten family since 1937 .
Attractions
The center of the small town is the Catholic chapel of St. Wendelinus. The church was built in the baroque style around 1620 . The Wendelinus Chapel with its cloverleaf-shaped choir (a so-called three- cone complex) is a rarity in all of Franconia . Inside, the furnishings from the 20th century predominate. A comprehensive interior and exterior renovation took place in the 1980s and 1990s. Several wayside shrines have survived in Dächheim.
