Döbrönte (German outdated: Dewrenten ) is a municipality in Central Transdanubia , about ten kilometers southeast of Pápa on the northern edge of the Bakony Mountains . The townscape is characterized by the ruins of the Szarvaskő castle.
history
The village and castle were first mentioned in documents in the 14th century. During the Ottoman-Habsburg battles for Hungary (16th / 17th century) the castle complex was destroyed and the place abandoned. Since 1760 Döbrönte have been rebuilt by recruited German settlers, so-called Danube Swabians . Charles Moreau and Joseph Kornhäusel created the classicist parish church in 1815. With the expulsion of a large part of the German residents and the arrival of Hungarians, a population exchange took place after the Second World War. Soft tourism has developed in Döbrönte since the 1960s.
