Location of Dörsdorf in Saarland

Dörsdorf (in the vernacular "Däschdersch") is at an altitude of 400 to 430 m the highest district of Lebach and at the same time the easternmost place in the Saarlouis district . The place is at the confluence of the L 304 in the L 145. Not far to the east runs the A1 .

description

The hilltops that surround the village are 440 to 480 m high. The melaphyric rushes in the forests on their slopes, the former melaphyr quarries at the height of the "Starz" and the natural monument "Krummer Stein" testify to their volcanic origin . The nature reserve "Steinbachaue bei Dörsdorf" is characterized by a multitude of rare plant species.

The "Durstdorfer Bann" belongs to the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park . The Dörsdorfer Rundwanderweg leads from the village square in the center of the village over a distance of approx. 5 km through small forests and open parkland around the village. With almost no incline, it is particularly suitable for hikers who have to take their cardiovascular system into consideration. The "Belz", "Starz", "Schützenhaus" and "Krummer Stein" viewpoints are close to the circular hiking trail.

Surname

The dialect name "Däschdersch" corresponds to the name "Dersters" to be found on old maps and is certainly approximately the original form of the place name. The first written evidence is from the 13th century. Another synonym for the name "Dörsdorf" is offered by the neologism "Durstdorf", which arose from the dialect tradition of the word part "Dörs". The French community name at the beginning of the 19th century was "Derstroff" or "Dersders".

history

However, it can be assumed that the beginnings of the settlement go back to the Celtic-Roman times. Cremations finds in the top layer of the "Starz" and proven site of a former villa rustica [cf .: Roman sites in Saarland] near the village in the bathtub "Röber meadow" indicate that in scenic controlling altitude and near a Roman road The beginning of the settlement existed very early. Old Roman agricultural terraces can be found on the southeast slope of the "Schnau". Until shortly before the French Revolution it belonged to Lorraine , Dörsdorf was right on the border with Kurtrier . From the 15th century onwards, most of the families were "people" of the Dillingen / Braubach rule and then the Sötern / Dagstuhl rule . Dörsdorf belonged to Thalexweiler until 1913 and from then to Steinbach . However, since 1964 it has had its own subsidiary church "Maria Königin".

Today's Dörsdorf with around 1200 inhabitants emerged from the merging of the old farming village "Däschdersch". For example, around 1740 there were only 17 houses, and a settlement from 1820, presumably former employees of the iron industry in the upper forest , which had come to a standstill . A very brisk construction activity after the Second World War doubled the population between 1945 and 1997. In addition to the creation of smaller new development areas, this was made possible by the development of the large residential area "Niederwiese" in a good residential area on the sunny southern slope of the "Starz". As a result of the territorial and administrative reform of 1974, Dörsdorf, until then part of the Ottweiler district and the Eppelborn district, became part of the municipality (now the city) of Lebach and thus incorporated into the Saarlouis district.
