Döteberg is a village and southern district of the Lower Saxony city of Seelze in Germany .
Neighboring towns are Seelzes in the north, Harenberg in the east, Lenthe in the south and Kirchwehren in the west .
history
The place name is disputed either in Old Saxon diet = people or Indo-European teu = swelling, elevation, hill and thus ultimately in both cases on "people on the mountain".
A first documented mention of Döteberg around 1106 is not completely certain. Old field names point to an earlier chapel location in the village from the time of Christian missionary work.
On March 1, 1974, Döteberg became one of the eleven localities of the large community of Seelze. On March 1, 1977, Seelze was raised to the status of a city and Döteberg was made a district.
