The Dürrensee ( Italian Lago di Landro ) is a lake in the Dolomites in South Tyrol , Italy . It is located near the upper end of the Höhlenstein valley at an altitude of 1406  m . It can be reached from the south from Cortina d'Ampezzo via the Gemärk and from the north from Toblach in the Pustertal via the road through the Höhlensteintal. The Cristallo group , which belongs to the Ampezzo Dolomites , has its south side in the background.

The tributaries are the Rienz, coming from the Drei Zinnen area , and the Popenabach, which drains the north side of the Cristallo group. The Rienza drains through the Höhlensteintal, which separates the Braies (in the west) from the Sexten Dolomites (in the east). Since the tributaries from the nearby high mountains have very different water flow over the year, the level of the lake and, due to its shallow depth of a maximum of 3.5 m and its shallow depth profile, its extent also fluctuates. If there is little inflow in summer, it can be easily warmed up and, in extreme cases, cut off from its drainage. It is therefore warmer than comparable lakes at a similar altitude, which is why it is also used for swimming. At the maximum water level, it has a length parallel to the road of about 700 meters and a width of 300 meters. A small part of the lake in the west is separated by the road embankment.

The lake is part of the Drei Zinnen nature park , to which the Fanes-Senes-Braies nature park is directly connected on its west bank . It is a protected natural monument .

There is a climbing garden on its east side and a small restaurant on the west side.
