The church in Długie Stare

Długie Stare (German Alt-Laube ) is a village in Poland in the Greater Poland Voivodeship . It belongs to the municipality of Święciechowa in the Powiat Leszczyński .

history

The first written mention of today's Długie Stare comes from the year 1322. A former place name was Długie Majori . The Dłuski family owned the village and the associated Długie Nowe farm. In 1707 an army of Mongols in the service of the Russian tsar marched through the village and plundered it. In 1709 the plague claimed numerous victims, but the outbreak was limited by strict regulations that restricted freedom of movement. In 1714 Andrzej Nieżychowski became the owner of the village after paying a transfer fee to his brother Mikołaj. In 1778 a hospital with eight chambers was built in Długie Stare. In 1805 the Prussian army quartered in the village and a fire tower was built and a hand pump for fire fighting was purchased. In 1807 French soldiers billeted in the place several times. After the First World War , Długie Stare became part of the re-established Poland before it was occupied by the German Wehrmacht in September 1939 . In the course of the renaming of places in occupied Poland, the German name Alt-Laube was changed to Altlaube in December 1939 . During the occupation there was a forced labor camp for Jews in Altlaube until August 27, 1943.

Since the end of the Second World War , the place was again part of Poland as Długie Stare .

In 1790 the fire tower was demolished.

Culture and sights

The church was founded in the 15th century by the Dłuski family , who belonged to the Nałęcz coat of arms . At the end of the 16th century the church was consecrated to a Protestant, but already around 1606 it became a Catholic church again. In 1717 a new organ was installed by an organ builder from Wschowa . A few years later, in 1724, a new altar was erected and the old one moved to the church in nearby Lasocice . From 1758 to 1759 the church was enlarged and the floor renewed.
