Dương Hồng Sơn (born November 20, 1982 in Nghệ An Province ) is a Vietnamese former soccer goalkeeper . From 2008 to 2016 he was under contract with the multiple Vietnamese champion T&T Hà Nội .

Career

Hồng Sơn played for PVFC Sông Lam Nghệ An for three years between 2004 and 2007 . He then moved in January 2008 to the club T&T Hà Nội , which was founded in 2006 and which was first active in the top Vietnamese league from 2008. As early as 2010, he and the club became champions of the V-League for the first time in the club's history , after finishing fourth in the previous year. This gave the club access to the AFC Cup for the first time , in which it will intervene in 2011 . At the beginning of 2011, T&T won the national Super Cup . They defeated Hồng Sơn's former club PVFC Sông Lam Nghệ An 4-2 on penalties.

National team

Hồng Sơn has been a regular part of the Vietnamese national team since 2003 . In 2007 the Austrian coach Alfred Riedl appointed him to the squad for the 2007 Asian soccer championship in his own country. In Group B, the team was able to prevail as second in the table and qualify for the next round. With Hồng Sơn as the goalkeeper they reached the quarter-finals, where they lost 0: 2 (0: 1) to the eventual winners from Iraq . Hồng Sơn completed all of four possible games of his team in the competition and thus did not miss a tournament minute of his team.

His greatest success so far with the Vietnamese national soccer team was winning the ASEAN soccer championship in 2008 , where Vietnam beat Thailand 3-2 in the final . The goalkeeper was then voted the best player of the tournament.

In January 2010, the goalkeeper caused a stir in the national team when he was unable to travel to the World Cup qualifying game against Lebanon due to a lost passport and national coach Henrique Calisto had to do without him.

In 2010 the goalkeeper was reappointed to the squad for the 2010 ASEAN soccer championship . There the team reached the semi-finals, where they were eliminated after 2-0 and 0-0 against the Malaysian selection . After mistakes by Hồng Sơn, he was determined to be one of the guilty parties for the elimination.
