Syndicate (authors)

Syndicate e. V. is an association for the promotion of German-language crime literature, in which German-language crime authors are organized.

Syndikat was officially founded on February 2, 1986 on the initiative of crime authors Fred Breinersdorfer and Peter Schmidt . German-speaking authors who have at least one independent, professional publication are accepted. Publications that have been paid for are not recognized. The association is a member of the international crime writers' association AIEP / IACW (International Association of Crime Writers).

Members

In July 2014 more than 830 German-speaking crime writers from Germany, Switzerland and Austria were united in the association. The 500th member of the association became, according to a report from Nordpark Verlag on September 17, 2008, the Cologne author Frank Schätzing . In February 2018 the number of members was given as 750. In addition to the members, there are around 40 so-called "amigos" (publishers, television people, sponsors and fans) who have access to the meetings and events. The interests of the association are represented by a team of speakers. The spokespersons for Syndikat are currently (2018) Christine Bonvin , Daniel Carinsson and Jens J. Kramer . Syndikat organizes the “ Criminale ” annually , during which it awards the Friedrich Glauser Prize in several categories and the Hansjörg Martin Prize (children's and youth crime prize).
