DJ Sammy's musical career began in 1984 in the dance clubs Alexandra , Bananas and Zorba’s on Mallorca . At the same time he finished his training as a sound engineer at Mallorca Music College . In 1991 he met the singer Marie-Jose van der Kolk , who was responsible for the vocals of his songs under her artist name Carisma at the time and from then on performed with him at Zorba’s . In 1992 he became resident DJ , i.e. permanently employed DJ, at the Joy Palace Club in S'Arenal .

In November 1995 DJ Sammy and Carisma released their first single, Life Is Just a Game , which entered the top 10 in Spain. In June 1998 the debut album of the same name was released , which received positive reviews all over Europe. In addition, the album was able to advance to number 62 in the German single charts.

In the same year DJ Sammy and Carisma founded the joint project Loona . Bailando was her first single. This became a huge success and is considered a summer hit in 1998. The title took first place in several countries and was awarded gold and platinum several times. In the following years numerous other phonograms were published under the name Loona .

He celebrated his greatest solo success in 2002 with a cover version of Bryan Adams ' Heaven , a collaboration with the German DJ Yanou , member of the bands Cascada and RIO , as well as the Dutch singer Dominique van Hulst , who rose to number 1 in the UK charts and has sold over 2 million copies in Europe and Australia. His cover version of the Don Henley classic The Boys of Summer reached number 2 on the British charts.

In the following years, DJ Sammy repeatedly released cover versions of classics such as Why by Annie Lennox and Everybody Hurts by REM. Many of the songs were particularly successful in Great Britain. He has received silver, gold and platinum records worldwide during his career .

In 2006 DJ Sammy founded the Parker & Hanson project together with Gabriel Ward . With which they represent the genre Progressive Trance . They signed contracts with various record labels , including the British trancelabel Anjunabeats .

DJ Sammy himself is the founder of the dance label Super M Records , the artist agency Bahia Music Management and the Gamba Music Company . He works as a producer for various pop and rock bands.

Since 2010 he has been under contract with the German dance label Kontor Records . His first single, which was released on the label, was Animal , with which he began to change his music style from trance to house music. The voices of the track were the singer Nyah and the rapper Jean Baptiste.

On February 3, 2012, he published the song Look for Love via Kontor . The music video appeared in two variations. Radio Edit was used in one. In the second the Jose de Mara remix. Both versions could get over 12 million clicks. However, the track was unable to achieve chart placements.

In mid-June 2013 the song Shut Up and Kiss Me was offered on iTunes together with the Jackie Boyz for individual download from Kontor Top of the Clubs . The official single release was scheduled for June 28, 2013. This also happened. The song went straight into the German single charts and is therefore the first single in eight years to get back into the charts. In Austria it rose to number 56.

DJ Sammy and Marie-Jose van der Kolk (Loona) separated professionally and personally in 2007. You have a daughter (Saphira Maria) and you live in Mallorca.
