The 2014/15 season was the 15th season since the foundation of the German Junior League , the highest junior league in German ice hockey . It was subjected to major changes for the first time, the number of participating teams was increased to twelve and the league was divided into two seasons (north and south) of six teams each.

Three points are awarded to a team for a win after the normal playing time, if the game is a draw after 60 minutes, both teams receive one point, the winner of the five-minute extra time (only with four against four field players) or after a necessary penalty shoot-out receives another point credited. If a team loses in regular time, it does not receive any points. First, the two groups play a single round (preliminary round) without any teeth. The top four in each of the two groups then take part in a joint double round (main round), through which four participants are determined for the play-off semi-finals for the German championship. The teams that could not qualify for this main round play in a dovetailing round with the newly founded DNL 2 against relegation.

Preliminary round

The four first place finishers in both groups then take part in a joint double round (main round), through which four participants are determined for the play-off semi-finals for the German championship. The teams that could not qualify for this main round play in a dovetailing round with the newly founded DNL 2 against relegation.

The teams that occupy places 1-4 at the end of the main round are qualified for the play-off semi-finals for the German championship. The season is over for the other teams.

Relegation round

Group south

The teams of the Augsburg EV and the EV Landshut were able to qualify for the DNL 2015/16 via the DNL2 placement round south, in which DNL Süd took 5th and 6th place as well as 1st to 6th place of DNL2-Süd .

Group north

The teams of the Krefelder EV and the Hamburger SV were able to qualify for the DNL 2015/16 via the DNL2 placement round north, in which DNL Nord places 5 and 6 as well as places 1 to 6 of DNL2 north took part .
