The railcars of the DR 137 068 to 073 series were created as a modified variant of the DR 137 058… 079 by MAN . Six copies were built. Two vehicles of the series came after the Second World War the German Federal Railroad and were used as VT 33.2 refers to three remained at the Deutsche Reichsbahn . One vehicle was in regular use until 1976 as 185 008-0 .

history

These six vehicles were built at the same time as the DR 137 058… 079 . They differed from these in that they had a slightly larger luggage compartment and other details. The outer entrance doors were designed as sliding doors instead of revolving doors as in the DR 137 058… 079, the number of seats was lower than in the comparison vehicles and the handrails were pulled down on the entrance doors.

After acceptance, the vehicles were used in the Darmstadt-Kranichstein depot and in the Halle depot . At the beginning of the war, the vehicles were initially shut down, after which they were used for military service. The use of vehicles as emergency power generators is known .

VT 33 202/203

The 137 068 was destroyed during the war and had to be retired in 1944. Of the remaining vehicles, two remained with the Deutsche Bundesbahn and were designated as VT 33 202 and VT 33 203 , three remained with the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the GDR. The vehicles remained with the DB were to end at the railway depots Darmstadt and Bielefeld home. The last vehicle was retired in 1965.

The vehicles that remained with the Deutsche Reichsbahn drove a little longer. The VT 137 071 was used in these vehicles until 1969 and was then retired, the VT 137 069 remained in Güsten and Aschersleben until 1976 and was still given the EDP designation 185 008-0 .

vehicle description

Except for the changes mentioned, the vehicles corresponded to DR 137 058… 079 . They had the same diesel-electric drive . While they were all equipped with side and front aprons for delivery, after the war they were run without an apron for better maintenance of the machine parts under the car.
