The DR 137 235 was a test railcar of the Deutsche Reichsbahn , which was built as a comparison vehicle to the railcars 137 162 and 163 with mechanical power transmission and the mechanical part essentially corresponded to the 137 136 to 148 . After the Second World War , the vehicle was used by the Deutsche Bundesbahn as the VT 63 910 until 1961. It is no longer there today.
history
The favorable price for vehicles with mechanical power transmission prompted the Deutsche Reichsbahn to order a railcar with TAG transmission and six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine from the Dessauer Waggonfabrik as a comparison variant to the two hydraulic 137 162 and 163. The vehicle layout corresponded to the 137 136 to 148, only the design of the machine system was changed by the charged shape of the engine.
The railcar was delivered at the end of 1937 and accepted at RAW Wittenberge in early 1938 . The engine, which was increased to 280 HP engine power by the engine charging , was not convincing in operation, so that the engine charging system was expanded and the basic version continued to operate with 210 PS. At the same time, the bearing of the crankshaft and the bearing of the connecting rod on the same were changed.
Further deployments before and during the war are not known. The mileage was 260,000 km until 1941.
VT 63 910
After the end of the war, the railcar was registered as operational in what would later become the Federal Republic of Germany and used in the Munich-Pasing depot . After a major overhaul in the Friedrichshafen repair shop , it was fully operational again from 1951 and was reported in the inventory at the Nürnberg Hbf .
The railcar was in service for ten years and was retired in 1961.
Constructive features
In the car body, which was identical to the 137 136 to 148, there were 16 seats in 2nd class and 47 in 3rd class. There was also a load compartment and a luggage room with 4.3 m² in the passenger compartment. The seats were designed as an open- plan compartment with a central aisle and in the 2nd class in the arrangement 1 + 3, in the 3rd class 2 + 3. The ventilation was done by nine air extractors on the roof. The running bogie corresponded to the Görlitz type and had a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the machine bogie had a 3,800 mm wheelbase and was an in-house design from Dessau .
The railcar was equipped with a six-cylinder, four-stroke MAN diesel engine , the output of which could be increased from the 137-136-148 to 280 hp compared to the basic version. The power was transmitted via the TAG gearbox to the drive wheels of the machine frame. The main transmission was designed as a four-speed transmission, the achievable speeds in the individual gears were 14.6 / 32/60 and 90 km / h.
