DR P4 is a Danish radio broadcaster and the regional broadcaster of DR . A mix of music, national and regional news and traffic reports is broadcast. With a market share of over 42% (as of January 2013), P4 is by far the most popular Danish radio broadcaster. The average age of the listeners is 52 years, lower than that of DR P1 (57 years) and DR P2 (66–67 years).
In 1960 the first six regional stations were established: in Aabenraa (Radio Syd) , Aalborg (Nordjyllands Radio) , Århus (Østjyllands Radio) , Næstved , Odense (Radio Fyn) and Rønne (Bornholms Radio) . Two years later, Københavns Radio was founded and in 1974 Radio Midt & Vest in Holstebro ; 1981 Canal was added in Vejle in 1984 . In 2007, the expansion from nine to eleven regions resulted in two new transmitters in Esbjerg (P4 Esbjerg) and Holbæk (Nordvestsjælland) ; the latter was closed again in 2013.
