Dad's Dead is an Austrian horror film from 2006 . The approximately 40-minute film is the first feature film to be produced in Austria by a trading company and was produced by Media Markt as an innovative advertising campaign . The idea for this came from the Austrian director David Schalko , who contributed the script for this film.

action

Hannes Brahm's life is shaped by problems. Not only is his unemployment troubling him, but his marriage is also on the brink. His wife Claudia also accuses him of not even looking after their daughter Maria. The situation comes to a head after Maria disappears while visiting a Media Markt. The parents are looking for the daughter in panic, until Maria suddenly appears on the television and Hannes asks to get her out of the market.

background

With Dad's Dead , MediaMarkt is trying to address a young audience that is often difficult to reach with normal advertising. Since the film is set practically entirely in a MediaMarkt branch, it is peppered with so much surreptitious advertising that would not be possible in a credible, company-independent feature film. In addition, the young target group was lured into MediaMarkt branches with vouchers, where over 20,000 copies of the film were available on November 8th and November 14th, 2006. However, this film is unrelated to the internationally acclaimed short film, Dad's Dead (2002) directed by Chris Shepherd .
