The Tadpole and the Whale (Original title: La Grenouille et la baleine ) is a Canadian children - fantasy film of Jean-Claude Lord , who in 1988 as part of series Tales for All was released.

In the film, Fanny Lauzier takes on the leading role of Daphné , a young girl who lives in Mingan , Quebec . She developed the ability to breathe underwater and made friends with dolphins and whales that live near her town on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence .

Awards

The film received three nominations at the Genie Awards in 1989 for Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography (Thomas Burstyn) and Best Song ("We Are the One"). Daffy and the Whale also won the Golden Reel Award for Most Successful Canadian Film of the Year.

criticism

The lexicon of international films described the film as a “naive, largely boring children's film without charm and poetry”, which “contains all the ingredients of the genre” but “gives away all the chances for captivating entertainment”.
