history
The town of Dalerveen was founded by peat cutters from the nearby towns of Dalen and Wachtum and is already shown on maps from the 17th century.
In 1884 a school was built in the village, which taught until 1951. This was followed by the move of the school operations to a new building in the village. In 1983 the school in the neighboring Stieltjeskanaal was connected to the school in Dalerveen. Since then the school has been called "Stidalschool".
The farmers of the village Dalerveen founded a dairy in 1894 called "De Hoop" ( German hope ). Since the pure dairy operation was not profitable enough, animal feed was also sold. The dairy produced until 1969, after which the company only acted as a distribution station for animal feed. In 1995 the factory was sold and in the spring of 1996 the buildings were demolished.
From 1905 to 1938 there was a station on the Zwolle – Stadskanaal railway line in Dalerveen .
Sights and events
Two historic farms in Dalerveen are registered as Rijksmonument in the Dutch monument register. One property is dated to 1712, the other to the 18th and 19th centuries.
Every five years a school and village festival takes place in Dalerveen, which is organized by the residents of the village and the surrounding villages Stieltjeskanaal, Den Hool and Holsloot. One of the highlights of the event is the parade, during which various decorated floats move through the town.
