The red wine variety Dameron is a variety from the French departments of Haute-Marne , Aube , Vosges and the Jura wine-growing region . The variety has no meaning today.
Descent, origin
Is a natural cross of Pinot × Gouais Blanc
Based on genetic studies of 352 grape varieties in 1998, it turned out that the varieties Aligoté , Aubin Vert , Auxerrois , Bachet Noir , Beaunoir , Chardonnay , Franc Noir de la Haute Saône , Gamay Blanc Gloriod , Gamay , Knipperlé , Melon de Bourgogne , Peurion , Romorantin , Roublot and Sacy , like Dameron, all emerged from spontaneous crossings between Pinot and Gouais Blanc. Since the genetic differences between Pinot Blanc , Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir are extremely small, an exact specification of the Pinot type is not yet available.

The variety has almost completely disappeared because it is very susceptible to powdery mildew , downy mildew and raw rot . It therefore only produces very fluctuating yields. The high -yielding, early-ripening variety produces good red wines that are qualitatively between a Gamay wine and a Pinot Noir wine.
