Player career

society

In 2000 Damián Ísmodes joined the youth department of the top Peruvian club Sporting Cristal . At 16 he made his debut in the 2005 season under coach José del Solar in the first team. That year he won his only title to date when Sporting Cristal became Peruvian Champion. At the age of 18, the attacking midfielder had more than 40 professional games on his account.

In January 2008 he moved to the Spanish first division club Racing Santander . Here he signed a contract until the end of the 2012/13 season, as he wanted to assert himself in European football in the next few years. An injury was one of the reasons that he made his debut on the last day of the 2007/2008 season when he was substituted on against Osasuna in stoppage time. Since he was only used in the cup in the following season, he was loaned to SD Eibar during the winter break . In the summer of 2009 he returned to his homeland to join Sporting Cristal in the first Peruvian league . Due to injuries, however, Ísmodes repeatedly had to take compulsory breaks. In August 2010, he was thrown back by an eight centimeter long crack in his thigh.

National team

Ísmodes played for Peru at the U-17 and 2007 at the U-20 South American Championship. He played his first international match with the senior national team on June 3, 2007 against Ecuador . At the Copa América 2007 in Venezuela , he came to a use. In total, he played five international matches until 2009.
