Real Garcilaso is a football club from Cusco , Peru . The club was founded on July 16, 2009 and currently plays in the Primera División , the highest Peruvian football league.

history

After it was founded by former students of the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega school in 2009, the club took part in the game operations of the 2nd division of the city of Cusco in 2009. After the championship in the same year, the club rose to the first division of the city and region of Cusco . In 2010 Real Garcilaso was both city and regional champions of the 1st division of Cusco and then automatically took part in the Copa Perú , the winner of which is promoted directly to the Primera División Peruana . There they had to admit defeat to Sportivo Huracán from Arequipa and bury their dreams of direct promotion to the top division of Peru.

In 2011 Garcilaso succeeded in defending his title as city and regional champion of Cusco and thereby qualifying again for the Copa Perú. In the first round Garcilaso defeated the Unión Minas de Orcopampa club with a 0-0 win in Orcopampa and a decisive 4-2 at home in Cusco. In the 2nd round there was revenge against the team from Sportivo Huracán, against which they had been eliminated the year before. After a 3-0 win in Cusco, they lost 2-0 in Arequipa, but they qualified for the semi-finals due to the better goal difference. In the semifinals, Alianza Universidad from Huánuco narrowly defeated 2-0 in Cusco, which meant that the 3-2 away defeat had no effect on participation in the final. With a 3-1 win in Cusco, a 0-1 away defeat in Lima against Pacífico FC was enough for their first promotion to the highest Peruvian football league.
