society
Theis played for Jeunesse Esch , Union Luxemburg , Avenir Beggen and FC Progrès Niederkorn between 1986 and 2002 . With Jeunesse he won a total of seven Luxembourg championships and was three times cup winner .
National team
Between 1991 and 2001 Theis completed 33 international matches for the Luxembourg national team , in which he did not score. He played his first game on October 12, 1991 in a 1-1 draw in a friendly against Portugal . His last appearance was on August 15, 2001 in the friendly against Georgia , which ended with a 3-0 defeat for the Luxembourgers.
Coaching career
Theis began his coaching career at FC Differdingen 03 , which he led to the BGL Ligue in 2006 . He then coached the Luxembourg U19 national team until he returned to Differdange in 2009. There he won the Coupe de Luxemburg in 2010 and 2011.
For the 2011/12 season he moved to the reigning champions F91 Dudelange , where he was released on October 17, 2011. In March 2012, he took over the relegation-threatened team from Swift Hesperange . There he reached the Barrageplatz at the end of the season , but lost the relegation against the third of the honorary doctorate FC Wiltz 71 and thus also his coaching job.
At the beginning of 2013 he became Technical Director at Jeunesse Esch , where he also took over as a trainer in April 2013. He led the Jeunesse to third place and won the national cup against his old club from Differdange. Qualification for the UEFA Europa League was again successful in 2014, but was narrowly missed in 2015. For the 2015/16 season he was coach at Victoria Rosport , where he was dismissed in March 2016 after a 3-0 home defeat to relegation rivals US Bad Mondorf . In November 2016 he took over UN Käerjéng 97 , but could not prevent relegation at the end of the season.
In April 2018 he returned for the third time to the coaching bench of FC Differdange 03, where he replaced Pascal Carzangia. After the qualification for the Europa League at the end of the season was clearly missed, Dan Theis left the club. In October 2018 he was again coach of Swift Hesperingen in the honorary doctorate. There he reached the barrage game for promotion to the BGL Ligue against US Hostert as third .
