The Dande or Dange is a river in Angola .

course

It originates from the município Quitexe , a former mission station founded by Italian Capuchins in 1947/48 in the province of Uíge , where it is known as Dange . The river separates the northern provinces of Uige and Cuanza Norte and these in turn from the province of Bengo . It flows into the Atlantic Ocean near the city of Barra do Dande .

Energy generation

In its course, the Dande feeds the Mabubas dam. The plant is located about 6 km northeast of the provincial capital Caxito and was built by the Portuguese in 1960 to power the cities and industries in the Bengo Valley and sabotaged by South Africans during the Angolan civil war in the 1980s and is still not in operation again. In its further course it flows through the city of Caxito, in the município Dande . On its last section, the river water is mainly used for irrigation and use of agricultural facilities that have settled on the banks.
