Danger Zone is a song by Kenny Loggins that was released in 1986. The music is by Giorgio Moroder , the text by Tom Whitlock . The song is part of the soundtrack of the film Top Gun .

background

The band Toto was originally intended for this song, but legal differences between the producers of Top Gun and the band's lawyers prevented this.

Bryan Adams was approached to contribute Only the Strong Survive to the soundtrack and sing Danger Zone , but Adams declined to participate as he felt the film glorified war and did not want his work to be associated with it.

REO Speedwagon were also asked to interpret the song, but declined because the band was not allowed to contribute their own songs to the soundtrack.

Even Corey Hart was asked Danger Zone to sing, but he refused, as saying that he only sang his own songs. Eventually the film producers agreed that Danger Zone would be interpreted by Kenny Loggins .

Instruments

Then Huff , lead singer and guitarist for the hard rock group Giant , played guitar on that song. The bass line was generated by a Yamaha DX7 synthesizer, the drum music was provided by a LinnDrum drum machine. A tenor saxophone is used towards the end of the song.
