Daniel Anker

Daniel Anker (born September 17, 1954 in Schaffhausen ) is a Swiss journalist and author of mountain books and alpine guides from Switzerland.

Life

Daniel Anker completed his studies in Swiss history at the University of Bern with a thesis on the Swiss Alpine Club and works as a freelance travel journalist and mountain journalist. The great-great-nephew of the painter Albert Anker lives with his family in Bern . As a mountaineer , he went on classic tours in the Alps; today mainly mountain hikes and ski tours.

Journalism

Anker is the author of several ski touring, hiking and cycling guides for many regions of Switzerland as well as for Lac Léman , Côte d'Azur , Languedoc-Roussillon and California . For AS Verlag in Zurich , he publishes mountain monographs on outstanding peaks in the Alps, including the Eiger , Jungfrau , Mönch , Finsteraarhorn , Piz Bernina , Bietschhorn and Monte Rosa . In addition to working for newspapers and magazines such as Neue Zürcher Zeitung , Outdoor Guide or Die Alpen (Swiss Alpine Club), he is a reviewer for the Swiss Library Service SBD and the author of a weekly book review on alpine literature, “Ankers Buch der Woche”.
