Daniel Andrei Cacina (born October 17, 2001 in Brașov ) is a Romanian ski jumper .
Career
Cacina made his national debut in 2008. He made his first international appearance on February 21, 2014 in the FIS Cup in Râşnov . In the following years, Cacina started regularly in the FIS Cup, but remained largely unsuccessful. In February 2017 he took part in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Erzurum , Turkey . While he finished the individual competition in 26th place, he placed fifth with the team. Between 2013 and 2017 he competed in the FIS Carpath Cup . In September 2017 he took third place on the Bloudkova Velikanka medium hill in Planica . He finished the season in seventh place overall.
In the summer of 2017, Cacina made his debut in the Continental Cup in Szczyrk, Poland , but clearly missed out on the points. At the 2018 Junior World Ski Championships in Kandersteg , Switzerland , he finished 51st in the individual and was second to last with the team. A year later he reached the second round in the individual jumping of the Junior World Ski Championships 2019 in Lahti as thirtieth. During the rest of the 2018/19 season, Cacina tried regularly in the Continental Cup, but his best result was only 33rd in the Russian Tchaikovsky .
After finishing tenth in the first FIS Cup competition of the 2019/20 season in Szczyrk , Cacina also competed in the Continental Cup in Shchuchinsk, Kazakhstan . There he reached the 25th place in the second competition and thus got his first Continental Cup points, which meant that he was eligible to compete in the Grand Prix and World Cup competitions for two years. At the home World Cup in Râşnov in February 2020, Cacina competed in a qualification for the first time. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2020 in Oberwiesenthal , Cacina came in 29th out of a field of 65 athletes.
At the national level, Cacina was already successful at the Romanian championships . In 2018 he was Romanian master of the normal hill and runner-up with the team in Râșnov. He defended this title in both October 2019 and February 2020.
