Daniel Geiger is a German rock singer . Under the pseudonym Jack Letten he is the singer of the hardcore punk band Smoke Blow . Since 2011 he has been working as a solo artist under the pseudonym Erik Cohen .

Career

Smoke Blow

Geiger founded the band Smoke in 1997 , which later changed its name to Smoke Blow. With the band he released a total of seven studio albums. Since the release of their last album, The Record, in 2010, Smoke Blow decided not to release any new albums and only play a few concerts. In the meantime he recorded the album Everything Goes in Circles of the post-punk band Genepool in 2004 . Due to his obligations with Smoke Blow, however, he was replaced for the subsequent tour by Christian Schweighusen, the former singer of the Rostok Vampires .

Erik Cohen

Daniel Geiger has been working as a solo artist since 2011 and adopted the pseudonym Erik Cohen . He chose the first name Erik, which has something Nordic about it, and the last name Cohen as a reference to his family's Jewish roots. At first Cohen worked with English texts, but then switched to German because the music sounded too much like Smoke Blow light. In November 2012 Cohen released the song Chrom , followed by the EP Captain in spring 2013. In the summer of 2013, Cohen played at the Vainstream Rockfest . At the beginning of 2014 the debut album Nostalgie für die Zukunft was released via RYL NKR . Two years later the second studio album Weisses Rauschen followed , which was the first album to enter the German album charts and reach number 74. In the summers of 2016 and 2017 Cohen played at the Hurricane Festival and the Southside . On January 26, 2018, the third album III was released, which reached number 57 in the German album charts. In the summer of 2018, Cohen performed at the Wacken Open Air . On November 22, 2019, he released the album Live from the Past , which was recorded live in the studio, and a cover version of the song Goldener Reiter by Joachim Witt .

Daniel Geiger describes Erik Cohen's music as a dark, heavy combination of rock and punk with melancholy singing.
