Daniel Madlener (born August 24, 1964 in Feldkirch , Vorarlberg ) is a former Austrian football player . The midfielder completed most of his missions in the 1st division for SK Vorwärts Steyr .
Career
Daniel Madlener started his football career at IG Bregenz / Dornbirn in the 2nd division after working as a youth player at SV Satteins and then at the performance center in Dornbirn . From there he moved to the nearby FC St. Gallen in the Swiss NLA in 1985 , where Walter Hörmann played at the time. Two years later, the then promoted SK Vorwärts Steyr brought Vorarlberg into the Austrian 1st Division , where he stayed until 1996, apart from a six-month engagement with Rapid 1991, and became one of the most important players in the Red-Whites. The greatest successes were the two seventh places in the table in 1990/91 and 1991/92 .
Under Josef Hickersberger , he made two brief appearances in the Austrian national team in 1988 in the preparatory games against Brazil and Hungary . Together with Walter Waldhör , he was the only national player who was appointed from Steyr. Shortly before the relegation of SK Vorwärts Steyr, Daniel Madlener moved to FC Linz , for whom he played until "Fusion" 1997. He finally came back to Vorarlberg in 1999 via TSV Hartberg and Steyr, where he still played for FC Hard , FC Blau-Weiß Feldkirch and FC Nenzing in the Regionalliga West . In 2005 he took over as player-coach of FC Schlins, which he led into the national league with two consecutive championship titles in 2007. His main job was as a secondary school teacher in Nüziders .
The next stop was at FC Bludenz . Later he coached FC Andelsbuch , which celebrated the championship title and promotion to the Regionalliga West in 2012 . In 2013, Daniel Madlener made the leap into professional football again, this time in the position of coach at FC Lustenau , which was plagued by bankruptcy proceedings, in the second half of the first division . After the club was relegated to the amateur field, he switched to AKA Vorarlberg as a youth coach. He has been the head coach at SW Bregenz since 2016 .
