Daniel Tawiah Opare (born October 18, 1990 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian football player . He usually plays in the position of the right full-back . The African cafu was also named as a promising talent . Since July 2020 he has been under contract with SV Zulte Waregem in the Belgian Division 1A .
Career
Opare began his football career at the Ajax Football Academy in Kumasi , a football school associated with Ajax Amsterdam . At the age of 13 he moved to Ashanti Gold SC , where he was included in the first squad in 2007 and made his debut in the Ghana Premier League . In January 2008 he moved to Real Madrid and was initially intended as a player for the second team Real Madrid Castilla . In July 2010, Opare joined Standard Liège . For the second half of the 2014/15 season he was loaned to the Turkish first division club Beşiktaş Istanbul .
In the 2015/16 season, Opare moved to Bundesliga club FC Augsburg . There he made his debut in the German Bundesliga on April 9, 2016, the 29th matchday. In January 2017 he was awarded to the French second division club RC Lens until the end of the season. On February 3, 2018, FC Augsburg suspended him until further notice for disciplinary reasons.
In July 2018, the defender moved to the Belgian Division 1A at Royal Antwerp on a free transfer . After playing 23 league games and one cup game for Antwerp in the 2018/19 season, he was sidelined from the start of the 2019/20 season due to a torn knee ligament. Even after his recovery in January 2020, he was no longer part of the matchday squad until Division 1A was canceled in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic .
After his contract expired at the end of the season, Opare switched to league competitor SV Zulte Waregem for the 2020/21 season and signed a two-year contract there.
National team
Daniel Opare reached fourth place in the 2007 U-17 World Cup with Ghana. For a friendly against Togo on November 18, 2007 Opare was appointed to the squad of the senior national team for the first time , but was ultimately not used. In October 2009 he won the Junior World Championship with Ghana .
