Daniel Roi (born December 23, 1987 in Wolfen ) is a German politician ( AfD ). He has been a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt since 2016 and was parliamentary manager of the AfD state parliamentary group from March to November 2016.

Life

education

Roi studied agricultural sciences with a focus on politics / economics and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (BE). During his studies, Roi worked at times in a pig breeding facility and in a dairy farm. He also worked for the Office for Agriculture, Land Management and Forests Anhalt in Dessau-Roßlau . Roi is a volunteer for the Bitterfeld-Wolfen fire brigade.

Private

Roi is married. [1] He was in a relationship with the AfD member of the state parliament Sarah Sauermann .

Political career

Roi joined the Alternative for Germany party in March 2013. He was a candidate in the Bundestag election in September 2013 for the Bundestag constituency 71 (Anhalt) and received 4.6 percent of the first votes. As a candidate of the AfD for the office of district administrator in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district , he won 11.3% of the votes on May 25, 2014. Roi has been a member of the district council of Anhalt-Bitterfeld and the city council of his hometown of Bitterfeld-Wolfen , u. a. There he is chairman of the city council group as well as a member of the main committee and the committee for law, order, traffic and citizen inquiries. He also heads the AfD parliamentary group in the district council and is a member of the district and finance committee, the award committee and the committee for agriculture and the environment.

In the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt in 2016 , in which Roi led the election campaign for the alternative for Germany, he entered the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt with 31.0 percent of the first votes as a direct candidate for his party in the Wolfen constituency (constituency 28) .

Roi has also been chairman of the AfD district association in Anhalt-Bitterfeld since it was founded on September 18, 2013.

At the constituent meeting of the AfD parliamentary group in a secret location, Roi was elected parliamentary director . However, he lost the office again in November 2016; Roi was considered an "adversary" of the parliamentary group leader André Poggenburg . In a fight vote, his group colleague Robert Farle prevailed with 13 to 12 votes.

Controversy

On October 31, 2017, Roi published a tweet with the wording: “New Presidium in the Bundestag: A wheelchair user, Claudia Roth from the Greens and an African from the SPD. The perfect image of the FRG 2017. "In addition to Roth, this meant Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble and SPD Bundestag member Karamba Diaby , who is not in the Bundestag presidium at all, but only an assessor for the elections for Bundestag vice-presidents at the constituent meeting on October 24, 2017 was. After criticism arose, Roi described the tweet as "misleading" and deleted the post.

Participation in neo-Nazi rally

In June 2019, photos were made public that show Roi 2009 at a “funeral march” organized by the right-wing extremist Junge Landsmannschaft Ostdeutschland (JLO) for the bombing of Dresden during World War II. The photos show Roi in the third row behind a banner of a group called “Free Nationalists from Anhalt-Bitterfeld / Dessau-Aken”, which, according to the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung, was classified as ready for violence by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. In the immediate vicinity of Roi, the photos also show the NPD functionary Carola Holz and the later AfD district council candidate Sebastian Sterl. Roi confirmed his participation in the rally and wrote about the photo on Facebook: “In my youth, in addition to the event of the non-party JLO in Dresden, I also went to events from the left-wing spectrum.” And further: “For my project at the time with a focus on politics Wanting to study extremism, it was of interest to me to get my own picture of such major events on site ”. Representatives of other parties, such as Sebastian Striegel from the Greens , judged Roi's statements to be implausible: “The photos do not show a sociological field study, but a demonstrator.
