history

With the district reform of 2007, the constituencies in Saxony-Anhalt were fundamentally redesigned. Despite the fact that the name has remained the same, the constituency of Anhalt has been completely redesigned. Until the federal election in 2005, the city of Dessau and the former districts of Köthen and Wittenberg belonged to it. Only the area of the Koethen district remained in the constituency for the 2009 Bundestag election. Wittenberg and Dessau were combined in the new Bundestag constituency Dessau - Wittenberg , but the area of the former districts of Bernburg and Bitterfeld (formerly both Bundestag constituency Bernburg - Bitterfeld - Saalkreis ) as well as parts of the former districts of Aschersleben-Staßfurt (formerly Bundestag constituency Börde ) and Anhalt-Zerbst ( formerly the Elbe-Havel-area electoral district ). The constituency was number 72 in 2009 and received number 71 for the 2013 federal election.
