Kees Cornelis Petrus Jozef de Vries (born August 30, 1955 in Nibbixwoud , Netherlands ) is a Dutch- German politician in Germany ( CDU ).

Life

Kees de Vries took over his parents' farm in 1982 after training as a farmer and working in this profession for several years. Kees de Vries has been married since 1985 and has six children. On a voluntary basis, he was the parents 'representative in the school and church council in his Catholic parish, he also took on responsibility in the farmers' association and several development associations.

After the reunification in the GDR , he took over a former agricultural production cooperative in Deetz (Zerbst) in 1992 . The management of the company, Vrieswoud KG, has now been taken over by his eldest son.

Kees de Vries joined the CDU in 1999. He became a German citizen on June 17, 2005.

Since 2003 he has been a member of the district council in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district .

In 2009 he ran for the first time for the Bundestag in the federal constituency of Anhalt , but was defeated by Jan Korte , the candidate of the left . In the 2013 federal election , Kees de Vries won the direct mandate in the Anhalt constituency with 41.0 percent of the first votes . He also won a direct mandate in the 2017 federal election . De Vries is a full member of the Bundestag Committee on Food and Agriculture .
