Daniela Kolbe (born February 22, 1980 in Schleiz , Gera district , GDR ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and a graduate physicist. She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009 and was General Secretary of the SPD Saxony from November 7, 2015 to October 27, 2018 .

Life

After graduating from high school in Jena , she began studying physics at the University of Leipzig , which she graduated with a diploma in 2009 . During her studies she worked at the Herbert-Wehner-Bildungswerk in Dresden and from April to September 2009 at Work and Life , where she was active in youth education.

Political party

She began her political work with the Socialist Youth of Germany - Die Falken . From 2004 to 2009 she was chairwoman of the Leipzig Jusos and from 2006 to 2014 deputy chairwoman of the SPD Leipzig.

From 2014 to 2015 she was an assessor in the state executive committee of the SPD Saxony. On April 17, 2015, the SPD state executive unanimously followed the suggestion of SPD state chairman Martin Dulig to propose Daniela Kolbe for the office of general secretary of the SPD Saxony . She thus became the designated general secretary and was already able to act politically for the regional association. At the extraordinary state party congress of the SPD Saxony on November 7, 2015 in Görlitz, Daniela Kolbe replaced the previous general secretary Dirk Panter with 76.3% and was in office at the regular state party congress on October 22, 2016 in Chemnitz with 77.3% approved. At the regular state party conference of the SPD Saxony on October 27, 2018 in Dresden, Daniela Kolbe did not run for election again. Henning Homann , member of the state parliament, was elected as his successor with 80.8 percent.

From December 8, 2017 to December 7, 2019, she was a member of the SPD party executive .

MPs

Kolbe has been a member of the German Bundestag and the SPD parliamentary group since 2009 . It has always entered the German Bundestag via the state list of the SPD Saxony in the Leipzig I constituency . In the 2009 Bundestag elections it received 19.4 percent of the first votes cast and 21.3 percent in the 2013 Bundestag election . In the 2017 federal election , she ran for first place as the top candidate on the state list of the SPD Saxony and achieved 16.5 percent of the first votes as a direct candidate.

From 2009 to 2013 she was a full member of the Interior Committee as well as a deputy member of the Committee for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and the 2nd Committee of Inquiry ("Terrorist Group National Socialist Underground"). From January 2011 to June 2013 Daniela Kolbe was chairwoman of the study commission on growth, prosperity and quality of life of the German Bundestag . From November 2013 to November 2015, Kolbe was chairwoman of the regional group East. In the 18th legislative period, Daniela Kolbe was a full member of the Labor and Social Affairs Committee and a deputy member of the Interior Committee and the Petitions Committee .

In the 19th legislative period, Kolbe is a full member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs and a deputy member of the Committee on Home Affairs and the Committee on Petitions . Since September 27, 2018, Kolbe has been chairwoman of the Study Commission Artificial Intelligence - Social Responsibility and Economic Potential .

Other functions and memberships

Kolbe is deputy chairwoman of the board of trustees of the Federal Agency for Civic Education and a board member of the Network for Democracy and Courage .
