biography

Maier comes from Furtwangen in the Black Forest and is a member of the Urach ski club . Initially, she was an alpine ski racer and started in FIS races and national championships in January 2012 . At the end of the 2012/13 season she tried out ski cross, whereupon she was immediately invited to a viewing course. For the 2013/14 season, she definitely switched from alpine to freestyling, and in 2014 she graduated from Furtwangen ski school with a high school diploma . In the 2014/15 European Cup season, Maier stood on the podium twice (once as the winner) and took second place in the discipline classification, as well as winning the German championships. At the end of winter, she won the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco .

Maier made her debut in the Freestyle World Cup on December 5, 2015 in Montafon , where she finished twelfth and immediately scored her first World Cup points. The best result in their first season was 8th place two weeks later in Innichen . During the 2016/17 World Cup season, she made it into the top ten a total of six times, with her first podium finish on December 10, 2016 with third place in Val Thorens . During the final training for the World Cup race on the Feldberg on February 4, 2017, she suffered a cartilage injury in her knee. This turned out to be so serious that three operations were required. As a result, Maier also missed the entire 2017/18 season.

In her comeback season 2018/19, Maier was twice in the top ten, at the 2019 World Championships in Park City in eleventh place. In the following winter of 2019/20 she was able to establish herself at the top of the world again with two third places.
