Daniele Finzi Pasca (born January 10, 1964 in Lugano , Ticino ) is a Swiss playwright, director , clown , choreographer and founder of several theaters.

Life

Daniele Finzi Pasca was born in Lugano in 1964 into a family of photographers. Inspired by gymnastics lessons, he came to the circus. He gained his first experience as an acrobatic clown at the Nock circus. He developed his own figure from the traditional elements.

In 1983 he worked as a volunteer for the terminally ill in India .

On his return he founded the group Sunil's Clowns in Lugano , which was renamed the Teatro Sunil in 1986 . In 1984 he wrote the piece Rituale and performed it. In addition, the works Viaggio al Confine and Dialoghi col Sonno appeared , with which he started the theater's first international tour.

During his brief prison sentence for conscientious objection, he completed the trilogy Fuga . The Icaro part , a monologue for one viewer, has been performed at numerous festivals over the course of 15 years in 6 different languages ​​and seen by over 100,000 viewers.

In 1989 he founded the Teatro Blu in Brescia with Silvia Priori

For the 700th anniversary of Switzerland, he was invited as a Ticino scribe to a literary project in the Jura . During this time he wrote several short stories which were published as Come acqua allo specchio . The dance show Passo Migratore was derived from a story .

In Ethiopia , he took part in the project to integrate orphans into society through theater.

In May 2007 he showed the show Rain at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden with the Cirque Éloize .

In 2012 he directed the opera L'Amour de loin in Toronto , which was the opera's Canadian premiere.

In 2014 he staged the closing ceremony of the XXII. Winter Olympics and the opening ceremony of the 11th Winter Paralympics in Sochi .

In 2019, the Fête des Vignerons was under the artistic direction of Daniele Finzi Pasca, who also directed.
