Career

Reading FC and Gillingham FC

Darius Henderson made his debut in the 1999/00 season for the English third division club Reading . In 2001/02, the 20-year-old attacker established himself as a regular on his team (38 league games / 7 goals) and rose to the second division with Reading as second in the table. In the Football League First Division 2002/03 , the climber reached the play-offs as fourth in the table, but failed prematurely at the Wolverhampton Wanderers . After a temporary move on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion , Henderson moved to Gillingham FC on January 2, 2004 . In the Football League Championship 2004/05 he scored nine goals, but rose with Gillingham as third from bottom of the league.

Watford FC and Sheffield United

On August 4, 2005, Darius Henderson signed a four-year contract with the second division club Watford FC . With his strike partners Marlon King (21 hits) and Ashley Young (13 hits) Henderson (14 hits) had a decisive share in his team's third place in the Football League Championship 2005/06 . After a first-round success over Crystal Palace, the club moved into the play-off final at Wembley and defeated Leeds United 3-0 in front of 64,736 spectators . Darius Henderson scored the goal in the 84th minute with a penalty to make it 3-0. In the Premier League 2006/07 the promoted could not continue his good performance and rose from bottom of the table in the second division. After a missed recovery in 2007/08 , Henderson, who was voted Player of the Month for September (12 league goals), moved to Sheffield United on July 23, 2008 for a transfer fee of £ 2,000,000 . In the Football League Championship 2008/09 he scored only six goals and missed the play-off final against Burnley FC due to an injury . United lost this game 1-0 and thus missed promotion to the Premier League . In 2009/10 the 28-year-old striker scored twelve league goals for the table eighth. The 2010/11 season turned into a disaster for Henderson and Sheffield. Due to injury, he was only used in eight games (two hits) and rose with his team as the penultimate in the third division.

Millwall FC and Nottingham Forest

On June 29, 2011 Henderson moved to the second division club Millwall FC . In the Football League Championship 2011/12 , he found back to his old marksmanship and scored fifteen league goals for the table sixteenth. At the end of January 2013, Darius Henderson signed a contract with second division rivals Nottingham Forest until the end of the season .
