Darja Andrejewna Chalturina ( Russian Дарья Андреевна Халтурина ; born January 4, 1979 in Dolgoprudny , Soviet Union ) is a Russian historian and sociologist .

Life

Chalturina studied at the Department of Cultural History and Theory of the Faculty of Art History of the Russian State University of the Humanities in Moscow , specializing in culturalology . After postgraduate she was with her dissertation on Moscow's Muslims and the ethno-religious tolerance according to a survey in mosques 2003 candidate of historical sciences with specialization in ethnology , ethnography and anthropology doctorate.

Together with Andrei Vitalievich Korotayev , professor at the Moscow Business School and employee of the Institute for Oriental Studies and Africa of the Russian Academy of Sciences , Chalturina examined the factors and mechanisms of the current Russian demographic crisis. The results formed the basis for mathematical modeling of Russia's demographic future . Chalturina proposed a compelling mathematical explanation of Heinz von Foersters' Doomsday Equation of world population growth.

Korotayev and Chalturina also developed a project to change Russian alcohol policy , which was positively assessed by Georgi Gennadjewitsch Malinezki , Vice Director of the M.V. Keldysch Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences . Chalturina is co-chair of the Russian alcohol control coalition and co-chair of the Russian anti- tobacco coalition.

Khalturina and Korotayev were among the pioneers in studying the correlation between the spatial distribution of myths and that of the genetic , linguistic and other characteristics of humans in order to reconstruct early human history . One use case is the early migration from Siberia to America .

Chalturina and her colleagues showed that Protestantism had contributed to the development of capitalism , whereby it was not, as Max Weber had suggested, Protestant ethics that was important, but Protestant reading skills as a result of the obligation to read the Bible .

Chalturina heads the Strategic Risks and Threats Monitoring Group of the Center for Civilization and Regional Studies of the Moscow Africa Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2006 she was honored as the best economist by the Russian Academy of Sciences. She is a member of the Expert Council of the Russian government.
